Sometimes we’re just here Are we only exiting? Do you even know what’s really happening? Can you see it, can you look inside? But didn’t you rest inside your mind I’m trying to open mine, trying to open. Can you see in there? Where do they go? What do they find? Are those thoughts, those thoughts coming back? Can you tell? Are you listening this time? Do you even know what it is? Can you see? Can you look behind in there? It’s behind the, it’s behind the eyes You gotta look far out It’s, it’s within our reach Do you seek where you are going? It’s only there you will know But see, but you have to stay calm Let it come to you You have to be open, you have to open your eye Can you open your mind? Do not look ahead, do not look behind It’s all around you. It’s already, it’s already here. There’s no where to go It’s already, there’s no where What is time? What a concept. This is, what is the concept, what is the concept of time? What is the concept of time? When you reach behind, when you reach, can you reach behind? When you reach into your, reach into your, reach into the, into the back of your mind What’s the concept of, what’s the concept of time It’s just a fabrication What is real? What is? I don’t know Is this real? Do you even know? Can you even, do you even know it? All we can you do is stay, stay still and you can see And you will see it You gotta stay still, you gotta Try to open up You gotta open up Let it crawl in Look behind Do you even see? Can you look into your...it’s far deep into your mind What is time? Concept of, a concept of time. It’s what has begun If you, do you even have your, Do you even know what’s... Can you? What is going on anymore? What are all these thoughts What’s all these noises? What’s all these, too many, too many distractions I can’t see clear. There’s not anybody Is anybody out there? Can we all get behind? Can you see and do you look deep and go deep in there? You stay calm and you look around, look around You look up It’s about closing your eyes, it’s about closing your eyes You can just feel the gravitation, pulls, pulls, and pulls you down to the deep into the crevices of the ground And the earth she holds you She holds you You feel warm And will fill you up, and give you Make you feel so warm And the earth holds you, we’re all one, cause we came from here, cause we’re all one There’s no separation, there’s no you and I, we’re all just one But when you open your mind, you have to look, you have to look behind, you have to look, you have to look behind, you have to look, you have to look, you have to look behind. You have to look, you have to look, you have to look behind What’s going on? There’s too many... It’s come, it’s common ground Into the ground, sinking and sinking Sinking down Into the ground It’s where you came from

about

9 track album

Constantin Monfilliette’s debut album, “Rêveries”, is the result a year’s work after an epiphany during a musical retreat. In this first opus, which is already a major piece, Constantin experiments and composes with an open heart. He distills the sounds that are dear to him: an amalgam of dub and ambient music, through the prism of the minimalist wave.

“Möbius” offers a restrained opening on a self-generating pad, supported by percussions and precise drum programming. Very soon, dubby chords set the tone, welcome to “Rêveries”.

This is followed by “Le funambule et la lune”, a fundamentally beautiful piece strewn with rich and evocative layers of sound. It is one of the pieces featuring the talented Sheenah Ko, whose angelic vocals open a door to another dimension. Time freezes, in a feeling of beauty and security out of the ordinary.

“Translation” is an abstract journey with a taste of Musique Concrète, textured and filled with tiny, carefully processed field recordings. This twist track evokes a darker mood compared to the beginning of the album, similar to the effect produced by “On the Run” in the famous Pink Floyd album.

The next track, “Simple complexe”, continues perfectly the previous track with a qualitative and sharp ambient joint. We revel in clever granular cracklings and a discreet yet subtle atmosphere.

“Jaguar” is a personal experience on jungle/drum and bass. A powerful and colorful drum programming, a huge characteristic sub bass, mastered fills and reverses. The exercise of style is brilliantly done, all the way to the roar of the jaguar at the end of the song. In the same spirit of eclecticism.

“Dots in Space” is a modular ambient ballad where the emptiness can be heard through absorbing self-generating patterns. The conscious signals are constantly evolving into lively rhythms, like a floating dance in the void of space.

In the last chapter, we’re back to an affirmed dub feeling. “Bacchanalia” is characterized by Sheenah Ko’s bewitching murmurs on an acoustic dub breakbeat and beautiful piano phrases. Up to the bass, the textures are marvelous and organic, one believes to recognize a steel drum and a percussive dialogue of toms.

“Lost In” is an ambient ode to dub chords mingled with grain delay. The mature and intricate arrangement reveals vocal stretches and a very rich atmosphere.

Constantin closes his first album with “Retourner”, a delicate piano outro accompanied by thunder and delicate sand percussions. Deep feelings come up with this short and pure musical passage, while offering a meditative, sincere ending.

In the end, “Rêveries” is an open letter to reject boundaries and let the creative soul speak for itself.
